Full day trip to Wenchi Creator Lake   

 A full-day trip to the wonderful Wenchi creator lake starts with an early morning pickup from your hotel and departs Addis Ababa to the west for about three and a half journey (155 kilometers) to the extinct volcanic mountain. The densely cultivated caldera encloses a large and beautiful creator lake and the island monastery of Wenchi Cherkoks founded in the 13th century by an Ethiopian saint Teke Haymanot. 

Different walk options are available, from two hours to five hours. Two hours walk to the hot springs and back, or a five-hour loop involving two short hoops across the lake in boats the island monastery, and then on to the headland. You can reach the creator lake either by foot or horseback depending upon your interest. Near the creator, you can take a small boat to the small island of Cherkos where there is an old Ethiopian Orthodox church. Somewhere in a beautiful setting, we enjoy our picnic lunch before we return to Addis Ababa via Weliso.
